Kimberly B. Peterson

Associate

Overview

Born and raised in a small, one stoplight town in Indiana, Kimberly attended Valparaiso University Law School, where she was the Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review and a competitor on the Trial Advocacy team. During law school, Kimberly interned with the Lake County Public Defender’s Office, received the Ten Commandments Award for ethics, and won Best Note her 2L year. In line with her commitment to criminal and social justice issues, Kimberly moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and worked as a public defender, representing indigent and underprivileged individuals as a criminal defense attorney. In 2022, Kimberly moved to Washington, where she has worked as both a public defender and a personal injury attorney. Because of her varied experience, she has had extensive practice with negotiating complicated cases, dealing with difficult subject matters, and coming up with creative solutions to challenging problems.

I pride myself on taking a realistic, analytical approach to every case and working relentlessly to find a solution to every problem. My clients have consistently praised my ability to communicate complicated legal issues in a way that is clear, effective, and takes into account their needs and objectives relating to the case. Although I very much enjoy the research and writing aspects of legal work, the primary reason I wanted to be an attorney was to make the legal world more accessible and less convoluted. I strive to ensure my clients feel informed, understood, respected, and supported throughout every step of the process.

Outside of her legal practice, Kimberly enjoys reading fantasy novels and exploring new destinations with her fiancée. A fan of Taylor Swift, her music often accompanies their travels. She’s a dedicated Bears fan, eagerly anticipating football season each year. Additionally, she spends time writing dystopian fiction, tapping into her creative side, and while her painting skills may not be the strongest, she values the process of creating something from scratch.
