Rhinos donate school supplies
The amount of school supplies each student is required to buy at the beginning of the school year is not only onerous, but beyond the financial capacity of many families in our community.
In mid-August 2016, attorneys and staff at Reinisch Wilson Weier began to answer the call for school supplies for families in need. Both the Portland and Seattle offices collected donations and cash to support two local agencies:
- Schoolhouse Supplies is a non-profit in Portland that supports our community’s most vulnerable population by providing free school supplies to students and teachers. Their guiding principle is based on the belief that every child deserves school supplies and has the right to a quality education regardless of circumstances.
- Project Cool is a program in Seattle that helps homeless students secure the school supplies they need to feel confident and prepared heading into school. Over 28 years, Project Cool has helped more than 30,000 homeless students be ready for the first day of school.
Hundreds of items were donated or later purchased at Walmart with cash donations, along with over $300. We delivered to Schoolhouse Supplies on September 7; a Project Cool delivery is pending.
