Workers’ Compensation is a complex area of law subject to involvement of the legislature and several agencies with multiple rules, and appellate bodies continually interpreting and reinterpreting the law. My approach has been to strive for the quickest resolution of claims in the most cost-effective manner for the client. Rapid and direct client communication with attention to the best and most practical results achievable is my goal.
Howard E. Nielsen
Senior AssociateOverview
Howard Nielsen is an associate attorney with a long history of practice in Oregon Workers’ Compensation, defending employers in all aspects from initial claim issues to appeals. He began as a staff attorney for the Workers’ Compensation Board after graduation from Willamette University, eventually becoming an administrative law judge for that agency. His defense experience includes a decade as a defense attorney exclusively for EBI insurance and subsequent defense work for multiple employers and insurers as both an associate attorney and partner in a different firm.
Howard was starting graduate work in business, but he was so impressed by a local attorney, William Schantz, who taught a business law class, that he decided on a change of direction.

I have been a runner for many years and enjoy traveling to participate in runs in various parts of the country. I enjoy camping with my RV when our weather is good and have been working at learning electric bass guitar.
